2017 HVIA National Apprentice Challenge
Where: Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre Hall 3 Loading Dock
When: 1.00pm on Thursday 25 and Friday 26 May.
(The Fuso Challenge will be held at 1.00pm Saturday 27 May. )
Three teams have been selected to represent their regions at the 2017 HVIA National Apprentice Challenge, to be staged live at the 2017 Brisbane Truck Show.
The three regional teams work simultaneously, on identical trucks, generously supplied by Fuso Australia, to identify and rectify a series of programmed faults as the clock ticks.
The winning team is the first successfully to identify and repair all the faults, or the team that rectifies the most faults within the allowed time frame.
For visitors to the show the competition is quite a dynamic spectacle, with commentary explaining the apprentices’ moves and strategy, as their approach to addressing the challenge unfolds. Things can get tense as the teams watch their available time evaporate.
Plaza Terrace BBQ Bar
This must be one of the best known meeting places in Australia for the transport industry, even though it’s only open every two years. If you can’t find your mate in the exhibition halls, that’s because they’ve found a cosy corner to have a yarn on the Plaza Terrace.
It’s a chilled out spot on the Mezzanine Level to have a drink, a bite to eat and listen to some laid-back tunes before tackling the next level. Alternatively if you’re looking for somewhere to discreetly negotiate a deal on your next piece of equipment – this might just be your spot.
