“To all our visitors from around Australia and across the globe, we take great pleasure in welcoming you to the 2017 Brisbane Truck Show and hope you have an exciting, successful and enjoyable stay.”

The biennial Brisbane Truck Show is organised by Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia (HVIA), the national association representing and advancing the interests of manufacturers and suppliers of heavy vehicles and their components, equipment and technology.

HVIA Chief Executive Brett Wright was speaking in advance of the 50-year anniversary Brisbane Truck Show, set to be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) from Thursday 25 to Sunday 28 May 2017.

Mr Wright said the major milestone is a great reflection on the innovation and resilience of the Australian heavy vehicle industry.

“The show has come a long way from its humble beginnings when twenty-one truck, trailer and component manufacturers and suppliers came together at Haulmark Trailers’ premises in Rocklea in 1968,” Brett said.

“The 2017 Brisbane Truck Show is the fourth that will be held at BCEC, and features close to 300 exhibitors displaying the latest trucks, trailers, components, equipment, accessories and technology.”

Mr Wright invited visitors to explore and enjoy new features and improvements for the 50-year anniversary show.

“Our focus is always on making the event a great experience for visitors and exhibitors,” Mr Wright said. “The improvements we’ve made for the 2017 Brisbane Truck Show range from online ticketing to the exhibition layout.

“As part of the celebration, we’ve developed the Heavy Vehicle Industry Innovation Centre on the Plaza level.

“Displays showcase industry design and manufacturing innovations, research and development success stories, and connect businesses with support programs and services.”

The all new Brisbane Truck Show Awards celebrate Australia’s dynamic heavy vehicle industry by showcasing the last two year’s best design, engineering and manufacturing achievements, influenced by a culture of innovation and safety.

Judged by a cohort of the country’s leading transport and equipment journalists, the new Brisbane Truck Show Awards highlight the industry’s latest innovations.

“These awards will really showcase the industry’s capabilities,” Mr Wright said. “Amongst the contenders there are many already well-known, if not iconic, brands. Then there are many others who have quietly been creating ground-breaking products, technology and services that are changing the way the transport industry does business.”

The prestigious 2017 Brisbane Truck Show Awards will be presented with the support of Platinum Partner BP Australia at a special cocktail event at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on the first evening of the show, Thursday 25th May.

HVIA’s Industry Career Centre, located on the Plaza Level is a “one-stop shop” for students and job seekers to talk to the experts about the apprentice system, government assistance, training delivery and training content.

The popular Apprentice Challenge is now a truly national event with competitors representing each of the HVIA regions including the Eastern Region of Queensland, NSW and ACT; the Southern Region of Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania; and North-western Region of Western Australia and NT.

The regional teams work simultaneously, on identical trucks, generously supplied by Fuso Australia, to identify and rectify a series of programmed faults as the clock ticks.

Within this Official Show Program is a comprehensive list of exhibitors, helping visitors make better informed truck, trailer and transport equipment purchasing decisions, whether you’re buying for a fleet or for their ten-year-old’s first taste of the great heavy vehicle industry. S

“I’d like to pay tribute to our show partners, particularly BP Australia and Bauer Trader Media,” Mr Wright added. “We’re privileged to be joined by organisation’s like these to continue to build and grow a world-class event for our visitors.”

“We hope you enjoy our 50-year anniversary Brisbane Truck Show, Australia’s premier event, run by industry for industry” Mr Wright said.
